Fantastic creatures take over Gateway Gallery

For thousands of years animals, both real and imagined, have appeared in art from around the world. For the 2012 MUSA Young Artist competition, pupils from all over Fife were asked to seek inspiration for their artwork from the Bell Pettigrew Museum's weird and wonderful collection of birds, mammals, reptiles, fishes and insects. They used them as a starting point from which to create a 2D or 3D artwork depicting an ordinary or fantastical animal. A total of 682 entries were submitted and 865 pupils from schools across Fife took part in educational workshops with museum staff.
