NERC Molecular Genetics Chair

Professor Mike Ritchie of the School of Biology has been appointed Chair of the steering committee of the Natural Environment Research Council's Molecular Genetics Facility. This is a service offering expertise in advanced molecular genetics techniques to NERC-funded researchers.

Facilities are spread across three sites at the Universities of Sheffield (molecular ecology, specialising in DNA microsatellite and SNP genotyping), Liverpool (specialising in techniques utilising DNA microarrays for expression analysis) and Edinburgh (the “Gene Pool”, specialising in high-throughput DNA sequencing). The steering committee referees all application to use the facilities and monitors the performance and outputs of each site.
