Orientation Week

Orientation Week in the School of Biology 
20th – 27th September 

Sunday 20th Parents' Reception (Science & Medical Science)
3.30 - 4.30pm: Younger Hal, North Street

Tuesday 22nd Subject Talk
Come and hear about Biology at 9.45am with Dr Morven Shearer in School 6

Academic Fayre
Biology will have a stall in the Arts Lecture Theatre from 2.00 - 4.00pm.

Wednesday 23d Bell-Pettigrew Museum
The Museum will be open from 2.00 - 5.00pm, with a short talk by the Curator Dr Martin Milner

Thursday 24th

Introduction to Advising for all 1st Year Biologists
Dr Martin Milner will give a talk explaining the advising process, and related arrangements to all 1st Year Biologists (9.00am, C22, Bute)

BioSoc BBQ
A Meet & Greet from 1.00 - 3.00pm in the West Garden beside St Amry's Quad

Spotlight on Biology

There will be a series of short talks from Professor Anne Magurran, Professor Keith Sillar, and Dr Rupert Russell in Lecture Theatre D at 4pm, illustrating the exciting research taking place in the School of Biology. Afterwards there will be a wine reception in the Bell-Pettigrew Museum for all staff and new students.

Book Groups

There are a number of School of Biology book groups meeting during the week to discuss Mohsin Hamid's 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist'.

Monday 3pm in the ELT building & 4pm in E29 Bute, and Wednesday 1pm in Bute School Office & 5pm in the Bell Pettigrew Museum.

Advising

Pre-Honours Advising will take place on Thursday & Friday in C21 & C22 in the Bute Building, and Honours Advising will take place on Friday in various locations (Organised by each Degree Controller).
