DNA in the Garden Reception

A reception was held at St. Andrews Botanic Garden on Friday evening to publicise the current DNA in the Garden exhibition hosted by the External Relations Committee of the School of Biology.

In all, 60 guests attended, including Iain Smith MSP, John Purvis MEP, Ian Bett (Chairman of Club Committee of the R&A), Patrick Rentoul (Chairman, Rotary Club St Andrews), representatives from the University Executive, BBSRC, SCRI, Sensation Science Centre, members of local societies, school teachers, and local councillors, as well as staff from the School of Biology. Keith Sillar and Alyson Tobin gave the opening speeches and a vote of thanks was given by Iain Smith.

The exhibition is continuing until 24th October. It is proving to be a valuable PR event for the School, having attracted over 500 visitors during the weekend openings, from the Czech Republic, Norway, Belarus, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Canada, Ireland, Poland and Russia. The next activity day is Saturday 11th September, with others following on alternate Saturdays.
